Thanks to a generous bequest, Kiplin is about to undertake phase one of our garden masterplan. This will involve restoring areas of the estate and developing new areas. To assist with this process, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Gardener. The postholder will work under our Head Gardener to look after our Monday volunteer team as well as forming a brand-new volunteer team on either a Wednesday or a Friday. The teams will help to maintain and look after the walled garden and formal gardens of Kiplin Hall as well as undertake other gardening tasks as required. This is a single year post to start with while we undertake the current phase of the masterplan and assess how the new staffing structure will work.

The post has been assessed as falling within the Gardener (Skilled) guidelines as set out by the Professional Gardeners Guild.

The post-holder will be required to:

· Support and supervise teams of garden volunteers

· Plan tasks for themselves and volunteers under the guidance of the Head Gardener

· Have a good basic knowledge of Herbaceous boarder maintenance

· Good practical skills in soft landscaping and grounds maintenance

· Experience in fruit and vegetable production

· Machinery operation and maintenance

· Hold the necessary qualifications as outlined in the person specification below

Renumeration
£23,905 Per Annum (Pro rata £9,562 for 2 days per week). We would also accept this as a contractor role, total fee for 1 year would be £10,800

2 days per week (Tuesday and either Wednesday or Friday, to be agreed with successful candidate)

Head Gardener
