The exhibition, No Borders, showcases works by 19 artists; most notably, Yorkshire born, renowned landscape artist Norman Ackroyd, CBE, RA. The artists have been selected for their works embodying the sense of exploration intrinsic to the past inhabitants of Kiplin. The range of work on display in this exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the environment and experiences of each artist in those places. Works explore the landscape physically and conceptually and depict many landscapes including coastal and rural scenes from the region.
‘’As is evident from the collection that surrounds us at Kiplin, the past inhabitants of the Hall have all been keen art lovers and collectors of work by contemporaries of their periods. In the spirit of travel, bravery, spanning land and ocean, and setting forth to explore new lands the concept for No Borders will bring new life to the works already on display, creating contrast and conversation.’’ Curator, Sarah Mayhew Cradock.
Many of the artists exhibiting in No Borders are represented by Zillah Bell Gallery in Thirsk. Established for over 30 years, Zillah Bell is a leading contemporary fine art gallery specialising in original prints, paintings and ceramics. Exhibitions at Zillah Bell change monthly, representing and promoting a wide range of established and emerging artists.
Many works will be available to buy, a percentage of the sales will be supporting the work of Kiplin Hall and Gardens, a registered charity which aims to protect and preserve the heritage of Kiplin, as well as the artists themselves.
(Please note that artwork purchased will need to remain on display at Kiplin Hall until 30th October. Following which it can be collected from Kiplin Hall and Gardens or Zillah Bell Gallery in Thirsk by arrangement.)
