A Million Dreams is an exhibition showcasing some of the many toys, trinkets and trifles from the Kiplin collection. Inspired by the song ‘A Million Dreams’ from the film The Greatest Showman, A Million Dreams is a family-friendly exhibition that leads visitors on a light-hearted trail around the Hall. Kiplin’s 400-year-old collection consists of fun and fantastical curiosities gathered from far-flung lands and brought to Kiplin to make people smile.
The analytical visitor will recognise the parallels in period, ambition, and joie de vivre between Barnham, and Kiplin’s Admiral! The two playful gentlemen (Admiral Walter Cecil Carpenter, 1834-1904 and Phineas Taylor Barnum 1810- 1891), were contemporaries at opposite sides of the Atlantic, despite different socio-economic backgrounds they moved in similar circles, and existed in pursuit of happiness harnessing a desire to entertain, to collect, and to push boundaries.
